Leveling Your Pool

Every year Truitt’s Water Service is called on to fill dozens of above ground pools. Although most pool kits and their manufacturers include detailed instructions, it is very important to pay close attention to every step of the process. On many occasions, we encounter owner-installed pools that are poorly constructed. In some cases, they are literally unable to hold the water we provide.

The most important thing to remember is that the pool needs to be on level ground. The entire area should be within one inch range from lowest area to highest to prevent settling problems in the future. When leveling out the pool area, find the lowest spot and grade the rest of the area to reach this depth. Do not fill in lower areas to “even things out.” Your pool needs to sit on firm ground.

If your pool is uneven, too much pressure will be placed on the walls. The outcome is likely to be some combination of leaks or wall breaches.

Truitt's encourages you to take the extra time to get your pool on firm ground, in order to avoid problems in the future.
